An academy dedicated to offshore trades

An academy facing the ocean, a complex including a screening room, a hotel and an offshore training center featuring multiple simulators all in one: this unique place now exists. Founded by the initiative of five partners, including Bourbon Offshore Norway, Fosnavaag Ocean Academy located in the northwest part of Norway now opened its doors and has already welcomed its first trainees.

This academy, dedicated to offshore oil and gas, is aimed at those who wish to develop the potential of the ocean, group performance, and individual skills and competencies. For the first time, a single location features simulators for AHTS, PSV, crane, ROV, etc., so it's a great training tool that BOURBON teams will be able to take advantage of.

"We are committed to a partnership of at least 10 years, which allows us to project ourselves over the long-term," says Bjorn Remoy, Managing Director of Bourbon Offshore Norway. "This center, the only one of its kind in the world, will allow us to better adapt to the training needs of our seafarers as well as the needs of our clients. The ultimate goal, of course, is to be able to provide quality service, with the expertise of our teams."

This partnership strengthens the group's overall training system, based on its own Training Centers that offer instruction in the professions of anchor handling (Marseille and Singapore) ROV operation (Ravenna - Italy), crew boats (8 centers close to the areas of operation), etc. The Fosnavaag Ocean Academy, for its part, offers:

• 2 bridge simulators, with 360° and 180° views
• 1 crane simulator
• 1 Work ROV simulator
• 4 dynamic positioning simulators
• 1 engine control room simulator and a virtual engine room

These can not only be interconnected in a life-size training session involving all the components of the vessel, but they can also be connected to simulators in other countries in order to simulate an operation involving multiple vessels.

This latest-generation center, which will accommodate between 600 and 800 people from all walks of life each year, demonstrates BOURBON's commitment to crew training through ever more modern tools.
