As scheduled in the Horizon 2012 strategic plan, Setaf Saget is steadily increasing its fleet of directly-owned vessels. With the latest deliveries of the Tabor and Major, the first two bulk carriers in the series of ten 58,000-ton Supramax, and the cement carrier Endeavor, Setaf Saget now has a fleet of ten bulk carriers and one cement carrier.

A series of 10 latest-generation Supramax

The Major and Tabor are the first vessels in a series of ten Supramax ordered from the Chinese Sinopacific shipyards and were delivered in July and August 2009. They are 190 meters long, 32.26 meters wide, have a draft of 12.98 meters and deadweight of 58,000 tons.

Of an ideal size, tonnage and design, the Major and Tabor offer operational advantages of great benefit to clients.

Their design has been optimized to transport a bigger product tonnage within the same vessel volume. The new Supramax are equipped with four 35-ton cranes and 20m3 grabs so they can load and unload their 58,000 tons in minimum time at sites without a port infrastructure. Particular attention has been paid to the design of the propulsion system in order to reduce fuel consumption.

The other eight Supramax in this series will be delivered at intervals through to 2011.

By having this series built in China, at high-quality competitively-priced shipyards, Setaf Saget is able to ensure that it can offer its clients quality of service with latest-generation vessels at the best possible price.

Endeavor, the world’s largest self-unloading cement carrier

170 meters long and 27 meters wide, and with deadweight of 30,000 tons, Endeavor is the largest cement carrier ever built. She was delivered to Setaf Saget in June 2009 by the Indonesian shipyard Labroy Ship Building.

Designed and built for the French company Lafarge, this latest-generation cement carrier is of the pneumatic self-unloading type. This system means that cement can be transferred directly into the port silos, optimizing the unloading time and eliminating weather constraints. Another significant advantage is that by avoiding dust dispersion, this system is less polluting and more eco-friendly.
