We operate in many emerging countries, and developing skilled jobs is a concern that we share with local authorities. Each context requires a specific solution, and in this sense, BOURBON makes sure that each of its 37 operating affiliates take local requirements into account and ensure compliance with the principle of subsidiarity1.

To deliver our services, we have chosen to recruit teams with strong local roots in Africa, Latin America, and Asia.
Being close to operations and supporting local development
BOURBON has implemented a centralized purchasing and maintenance system, based in Dubai, whose mission is to control all purchases and reduce the group's operating costs.
We have chosen to focus our development on the establishment of a network of local service providers - over 4,800 suppliers - to reduce our logistics costs and optimize our supply costs, while ensuring the continuity of our activities. This organization enables us to be responsive and to provide our customers with efficient local maritime support.

With the fastest growth in managed vessels, BOURBON is strengthening its presence in Southeast Asia, thus becoming the 2nd largest region after Africa.
In Indonesia, the local flag requires the transfer of ownership of vessels in the country and ship management to be conducted 100% on site. This is why the group has strengthened the structure of the local affiliate to manage a growing fleet (15 crewboats).
In Thailand, BOURBON has increased the recruiting and training of local seafarers, over the past year and a half. Management of vessels and crews at a local level has been strengthened, and a dozen ships are currently run by 100% Thai crews.
In Malaysia, our Kuala Lumpur-based affiliate is developing and strengthening its position in the booming oil activities. It has become a certified supplier by large local companies such as Petronas, but also multinationals operating in Malaysian waters, such as Exxon Mobil or Shell. The affiliate's ambition is to double its fleet over the next two years and recruit crews that will be trained specifically in the BOURBON Training Center in Singapore.
